    Overview

    Keynote Panels and Seminars

With over two dozen panels and seminars packed into two days, WESTDOC has something for everybody.  No matter if you’re interested in producing and selling a documentary, breaking into the reality TV business or understanding the future of digital distribution, our diverse lineup of discussions and seminars delivers the information you need in today’s non-fiction industry.

The official 2013 panel schedule will be announced  June 15th, with daily updates as more speakers confirm.

    The Sit-Down

The Sit-Down is a 30-minute small group discussion in which individual broadcasters and production companies outline their specific needs for today and, more importantly, tomorrow. Find out exactly what they’re looking for, what they’re not looking for and how to get your pitch or project to the right person.

    The Network Sit-Down
Want an up-close overview of a specific network’s programming philosophy?  Interested in their current line-up of network commissions, co-productions and acquisitions?  Let network representatives tell you what’s what.

    The Production Company Sit-Down
Not sure if you can produce and sell your next project on your own?  Today's leading production companies look for independent producers and content creators to partner with in developing and delivering new programming.

    Face Time

“Pitching” an idea to television executives is an unavoidable fact of life in the entertainment industry, but actually landing those meetings in the first place can be a real challenge.  Face Time grants you the invaluable opportunity for a brief one-on-one meeting with network people who can critique – and maybe even help you license – your program or series idea.  Remember: keep it simple, keep it tight and above all, keep it interesting.  You’ve got ten minutes, so make it count.

Face Time meetings are included as part of your registration to WESTDOC.   Registrants of WESTDOC will receive a full listing of Face Time participants approximately 14 days before the event.  Reservations are limited on a first come-first served basis, so register early.

    PitchFest

The third day of the conference is dedicated to PitchFest, a rousing live presentation for documentary and reality producers to pitch new concepts to network and development executives for potential acquisition, in front of a live audience. Network and cable buyers will be on hand to hear and see 8 minute verbal and video pitches. The best pitch of the day will be awarded the fourth annual WESTDOC PITCHER.  All WESTDOC attendees may apply to pitch (a fee applies) or watch the special all day event as part their conference pass.

    Parties

After a long day of panels and pitching, what better way to blow off steam than grab a drink, chat with the speakers and compare notes with your fellow delegates?  Each day ends with one of our famous cocktail mixers, all to be held at establishments within walking distance of the theater.

    Opening Day Screening

Don't miss WESTDOC'S exclusive opening-day documentary screening and filmmaker Q&A.  Past selections include such acclaimed festival favorites as Catfish, Big Boys Gone Bananas and Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet.  This year’s film is sure to be just as memorable.

    Lunch with Strangers

No lunch plans?  No problem!  Get to know your fellow WESTDOC delegates and speakers with a group trip to a local restaurant, led by conference co-founders Richard Propper and Chuck Braverman.  Don't miss this great opportunity to network with peers and maybe make some new friends.
